Empower. Enable. Evolve.

This year’s theme is unsurprisingly ‘evolution’ – specifically what it takes to evolve you, the change maker, and your business. Empower yourself and others in a community of like-minded professionals. Learn from keynote speakers and industry experts on what approaches and solutions are needed to enable a new way forward. Above all else, be prepared to evolve yourself and your business.

The themes.

Our incredibly successful inaugural Evolution conference in 2021 focused on the evolution of financial services as a whole. This year, we’re drilling down a level, to focus on the evolution of financial advice businesses.

We’ll continue to bring a blend of thought provoking speakers, with the opportunity for you to create and share ideas with your peers and with us.

This year we’ll break down into three core themes:

Thinking about starting your own? Find out everything you need to know.

Wanting to grow a business, but not sure what fundraising options are available? Discover your options to supercharge your growth.

Got acquisition, or selling, on your mind? We'll explore M&A in financial services and what you need to be thinking about.

Fireside chat

Firstly, we’ll be hosting a fireside chat with Paul Hogg at EV, looking at the various advice models (traditional, robo, hybrid) and getting your input what the advice models of the future might look like. Or should look like.

Advice Reimagined

Inspired by Steven Bartlett’s quote last year that he would not seek out financial advice in its current, traditional, guise, we’ll explore some of the creative, innovative businesses, from tombstone games around Leeds (Phil Zeidler, Dead Happy) to mortgages with a side of punk (Graham Taylor, Hudson Rose) and help get the creative juices in the room flowing with just how advice could be if we reimagined it entirely.

Panel discussion

For business owners, there’ll be a panel looking at your options; growing through acquisition, fundraising, options if you are looking to sell. Essentially, how to take your business in the direction you want to take it. Speakers include;

Tina Weeks, Serenity Financial Planning
Sharing her experience of raising funds to buy advice firms, the challenges of integrations and what she wishes she knew before she started on that journey.

Dan Marsh, Octopus Accelerator
on the trend away from vertical integration, the ability of advice firms to build the solutions to their challenges themselves and the options for those wanting to turbo-charge their growth.

Felicia Meyerowitz Singh, FNZ Group
on creating a growth strategy, how to finance business growth and the pitfalls to be aware of.

You’ll also hear from some advisers who have sold their business – what they wish they’d known and their tips to those thinking of going down the same route.

Struggling to recruit in your firm? Get ideas, hints and tips to revitalise your recruitment.

Unsure of the best way to manage training and development in your firm? Find out from the experts.

Love your team and want to make sure they stick with you? We'll focus on retention strategies to help your culture thrive.

Fireside chat

Recognising the move away from traditional advice firms, into robust businesses that happen to give advice, in a fireside chat with us, Parmenion will explore the importance of a strong employer brand and creating a firm that reflects the culture of the team and the service to the clients.

Collaborative session

Explore the art of the possible, together with others in the room.

We know that financial services is in need of a rebrand if we are to make the profession, we all know and love, a more attractive and welcoming place to be to those on the outside looking in. In this session, we explore the diversity that’s needed to create an enriched and buoyant profession as well as explore and generate ideas on what the attention-grabbing headlines are that we’d hope to see in the future.

Panel discussion

Attracting and retaining talent within a business is something most strive to achieve. To help support this, we’re hosting a panel of Chief People Officers from businesses within our industry. Speakers include:

David Blackburn, Financial Services Compensation Scheme
With 25 years of wisdom under his belt, David will share what it takes to build a positive workplace culture that’s now recognised as the 4th ‘Most Inclusive Employer’ in the UK from a once-considered traditional finance organisation!

Kirsty Lynagh, Seccl
Known within the world of financial services for her success at Nucleus, Kirsty has joined Seccl and will share her experience of nurturing an innovative, collaborative workplace which embraces tech and realises the potential of their employees.

Sam Moxham, The Progeny Group
Navigating the world of acquisition is tough, least of all how you engage and lead a workforce through a merger. Sam can highlight the importance of values alignment and the behaviours that are needed to drive a growing and thriving business.

What delegates said...

A great venue and atmosphere, plus fantastic speakers delivering insightful thoughts and views our industry should consider, support and implement. The work you do at The Verve Group to introduce the new generation to the industry is inspirational.
John Glover, Money Alive
Thank you for putting on such a great event, not only was it our first outing in almost two years, but the actual day was truly great. Our personal highlights were definitely Keith Richards and Steven Bartlett - both were so interesting and gave us a bit more wind in our wings, so thank you.
Marina Gabas, Herbert & Webster
This will truly be a memory for life and I'm so so grateful for th experience, this is beyond anything I could have imagined. I'm still buzzing from the event and had such a great experience. Thanks again to the team, sterling effort for a successful event!
Benjamin Beck, Nigel Grice & Associates
Thank you for inviting me to Evolution - it was such a great event. I was really impressed and it was really lovely to meet some of the team. Thanks again!
Faith Liversedge, FL Storytellers
Congratulations on a fantastic event. It takes a lot of courage to put yourselves out there as the first to go back to in-person events, so major kudos and thank you for continuing to inspire the rest of us.
Adam Owen, NextGen
One thing that really stood out was that all the clients I spoke to were really passionate about The Verve Group, which is certainly different to the norm when we attend events!
Nick, Fidelity International
I had an excellent day! It was really nice to meet other people within the industry and some of the team. The day went really well and felt like you were mixing with friends who wanted to be there, rather than just people who were there to get their CPD because they have to!
Martin, Kiel Consulting
The networking opportunities were invaluable to someone like me and I hope they stay for future events! I was able to ask questions and learn from industry professionals in a casual environment.
Amrit, We Are Change Student
Thank you for letting me join you at Evolution and be part of the day. A great energy throughout - a sense of purpose and positivity combined with productivity and practical take-aways - I had a great day and learnt a lot!
Carmel Dickinson, Worthy
Evolution was absolutely first class! The subject was engaging, the speakers thought-provoking, and the logistics impeccably well managed. I really enjoyed the day and it was great to get back to physical events. The event was a knock-out success, well done Team Verve!
